Easy DIY Bedtime Hack for Children

Bedtime can quickly become a struggle and but we found a bedtime hack. Although a bedtime routine is key for our family, bedtime fears and delays start to arise. I came up with the idea of “Bedtime Bravery” Spray.

Why Bedtime Bravery Spray?

We have followed a consistent bedtime routine since Lily was a baby. Recently at age four some fears of monsters, separation anxiety, and bedtime delay has become an issue.

While having an open conversation about fears and validating them, I brought up Bedtime Bravery Spray. I made it up on the spot- ha!Instantly Lily was captivated by the idea and could not wait until we made it.

Being brave is not about the absence of fear, but about the courage overcome.

Items Needed To Make Bedtime Bravery Spray

The spray itself is very easy to make and only requires 3 ingredients!

  1. Water
  2. 3-5 drops of Lavender Essential oil
  3. Biodegradable Glitter
  4. Spray Bottle
  5. Funnel (optional)

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Fill your spray bottle 3/4 of the way with water.
  2. Add 3-5 drops of lavender essential oils.
  3. Include a pinch of glitter
  4. Shake and spray to boost bravery

“Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy. Distilled from the plant Lavandula angustifolia, the oil promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety, fungal infections, allergies, depression, insomnia, eczema, nausea, and menstrual cramps.”

Why Biodegradable Glitter?

Did you know that glitter never breaks down? Glitter is typically made from small pieces of plastic and end up in the ocean. I found a great biodegradable glitter option on Amazon.

“Most glitter products are made from plastic, which is a huge problem for marine life. When glitter is washed down the drain, it becomes part of the growing problem of ‘microplastics,’ which are consumed by plankton, fish, and birds, and have a detrimental impact.

I hope this bedtime hack can bring your little one comfort and the courage to be brave – also allow you some time to recharge! Happy playing!
